Maeghan Swanson is one of the cofounders of Aroostook Autism Support Group. Originally from Massachusetts, Maeghan found her way to the county through an employment opportunity for her husband six years ago. She holds a degree in fashion merchandising from Middlesex Community College, but has found that her life has taken a different path since the diagnosis of her son. Since then she has taken an active role as an advocate for her son, and has helped to give autism a voice through the work that she and others have done in Aroostook County. She resides in Easton, ME with her husband and two children.

Lisa Brewer is cofounder of Aroostook Autism Support Group. She has received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Maine at Presque Isle. Lisa has a lot of experience with and feels passionate about helping children, adults, parents and caregivers affected by autism any way she can. After college she went to work at a Developmental Preschool as a 1:1 for children with disabilities. After having her first daughter, Lisa decided to leave her position so that she could focus on being a mom. She now is the proud mother of two girls who are both on the spectrum and is still focusing on being the best mom she can be. Lisa lives in Presque Isle with her family.

Carrie Anderson lives in Presque Isle and is “from the County”. She completed my Bachelor Degree in Social Work at UMPI in 2001 and has been working with children and families of various age ranges even before that. She is very passionate about her work with children and families and aims to see each child as an individual and each family as unique and with their own values, strengths and needs and loves to see families she is working with be successful in meeting the goals they have set for themselves and eventually becoming their own case manager or “advocate” when needed.
